Today we’re going to do a little something different. Rather than writing a Blog Post, I’m going to share a video lesson from my on-line Bible Study of A Sudden Glory. It’s about 15 minutes long, so grab a cup of coffee and let’s have a chat.
For those who are new to my blog, Read more…
I sat on my back porch, wrapped in my fuzzy worn robe—the one that’s twenty years old that I just can’t seem to get rid of.
The birch trees waved “good morning,” and the newly planted gerbera daisies stretched their faces to the sun…just a bit higher than the day before.
Then I heard him. The rooster. Read more…

Steve, Steven, and I pulled up our chairs at a cowboy barbecue in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. It was a ho-down sure ‘nough. About 500 of us pretend cow pokes sidled up to paper covered tables with steaming plates of chow. Read more…
A few weeks ago, I was in the airport, headed to New Jersey. It was a typical rush, rush, rush morning.
Grab the bags, trudge through traffic, hunt for a parking space, follow the herd, wade through security, dash to the gate.
Folks aren’t usually very friendly in airports.

Do you ever feel like something is missing in your life? Maybe you are doing all the right things: going to church, reading your Bible, spending time in prayer, helping the poor. But in your heart, you feel a void, like something’s not quite right.

Last Sunday my pastor had to do some housekeepin’ fussin’ at our congregation before he started his sermon. It was a “Visitors, close your ears” moment as Jimmy interrupted the service for an important message from our neighbors.

Standing on the glistening sand of Bogue Inlet Beach, N.C., I hungrily watched as Stewart and his friend, Jeffery, plunged into the briny waters at the end of the island where the Atlantic Ocean merged with the Intracostal Waterway. Over at my Girlfriends in God devotion, I asked women all around the world to share a moment of Sudden Glory when God made His presence known in a real and personal way.
Over 200 women shared amazing stories of miracles in the messes and majesty in the mundane. I spent my day with a box of tissues — Read more…
You know what? I liked my last post. I liked the beauty in my yard all white with snow. I loved how you love it!
But I never want you to think better of me than I really am. The snow melted. The mud remained. And the ordinary bread-and-butter plain days were back.
There were a few days between then and now when I wasn’t exactly sleuthing for God’s fingerprints throughout my day. Read more…
It snowed last week.
For some of you, that is not a big deal. But for me, living in the South, it was a shining display of glory all around.
I breathed in the majesty of creation; breathed out the gratitude of grace.
Thinking of the power of the gospel to cleanse. Read more…
