Are You Speaking God’s Love Language

I rarely post something on my blog that I have posted on Girlfriends in God, but I think today should be an exception. During this week of Thanksgiving here in the U.S., I’ve been thinking of gratitude…God’s love language. So let’s ponder that for a moment.

Gratitude and thanksgiving are so important for your soul. It is not just what God wants from you;  Read more…

When It’s Hard to Take the Bad with the Good

I sat on my screened-in porch, taken aback with the beauty of the morning surrounding me.

A layer of mist rose from the serene waters of the lake and hovered just above the surface. Rays of light slanting in from the east elongated shadows that all too soon would stand at attention in the noonday sun.

The Power of One Word From You

I was wandering around the tourist area of the Leaning Tower of Pisa. Shelves with tacky little statues, snow globes with leaning towers, and ten dollar t-shirts crowed small booths for tourists.

frostShifty men with cases of “genuine fake” watches swarmed like bees. Rolex, Cartier, and Infinity—all for fifty bucks or less. Flashing fake gold and flaunting fake brands;  Read more…

When You Feel Weighed Down, Worn Out, and Bound Up

I was riding down the crowded streets of Mexico City in a cab when I saw her. She measured about four feet high, backed curved, bent at the waist at a ninety-degree angle, and fingers gnarled and twisted shut. Like an upside down chair, her face was parallel to the dirty sidewalk. Feet, dirt, trash. That was her view of the world.  Read more…
