Whose Voice Will You Listen To?
Last night was the end of March Madness when the UNC Tar Heels lost to the Villanova Wildcats by two points in the NCAA men’s basketball championship game. (If I were you, I might stop reading right now, but don’t. Keep going.)
I’m not much of a sports fan, even though I attended the University of Chapel Hill. Read more…
Rest in the Here-ness and Near-ness of God
Have you ever been in a situation when you felt God calling your name to a particular task, and at the same time you felt that He had the wrong person for the job?
That’ exactly how Moses felt when God called him to lead the Israelites out of Egypt and into the Promised Land. He cried out, Read more…
When We Ignore the Warning Signs
It’s been hard. Really hard.
These past five weeks have taken their toll.
I’m amazed at how such a little thing turned into such a big deal.
Ever been there?
One word turned into a world of argument?
One decision turned into a downward decline?
One email turned into an erased relationship. Read more…
When It’s Hard to Take the Bad with the Good
I sat on my screened-in porch, taken aback with the beauty of the morning surrounding me.
A layer of mist rose from the serene waters of the lake and hovered just above the surface. Rays of light slanting in from the east elongated shadows that all too soon would stand at attention in the noonday sun.

I closed my Bible and looked out across the backyard. My eyes landed on a rounded mound of fur nestled in the grass under the willow tree. Read more…
Who Do You Think You Are?
I’m getting ready to get on a plane and head to Kentucky to speak at a women’s event. And a memory slid it’s way into my mind. Remember who you are and whose you are. You are not doing this on your own.
See, it was my first large speaking engagement about eighteen years ago. Read more…
How to Make God’s Deepest Truths Truly Yours
Today I was pondering a quote by Oswald Chambers that I have dog-eared from October 10 in his book My Utmost for His Highest. It is one that I go back to time and time again. I wonder if it will resonate with you.
All of God’s revealed truths are sealed until they are opened to us through obedience. Read more…
Becoming a Woman Who Listens to God
Today we’re going to do a little something different. Rather than writing a Blog Post, I’m going to share a video lesson from my on-line Bible Study of A Sudden Glory. It’s about 15 minutes long, so grab a cup of coffee and let’s have a chat.
For those who are new to my blog, Read more…
Have You Left the Wrong Path Wide Open?
Last Sunday my pastor had to do some housekeepin’ fussin’ at our congregation before he started his sermon. It was a “Visitors, close your ears” moment as Jimmy interrupted the service for an important message from our neighbors.
See, right beside our church property is a City Park. On Sundays, when our parking lot is full, we tend to use the City Park lot for our overflow parking. Read more…
