Struggling Together in Prayer

Sharon Jaynes Blog Post

I am so glad that God gave us girlfriends who will struggle with us in prayer. I have loved praying for each and every one of you who have posted prayers on The Prayer Wall.

Paul  certainly understood struggling together in prayer.

He wrote: “Dear brothers and sisters, I urge you in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to join in my struggle by praying to God for me” (Romans 15:30 NLT).

The New Testament was originally written in Greek and sometimes looking at the original definitions of the words can give us great insight. The Greek word Paul uses for struggle in Romans 15:30 is sunagonizomai, which means “to struggle in company of, i.e., to be a partner (assistant), strive together with.” The root word means “to endeavor to accomplish something: fight, labor fervently, strive,” for example, to compete for a prize or to contend with an adversary.

Prayer for another person is not simply a nice platitude or a pat on the back.

I’ll be honest, when I’m having a difficult time and someone says, “I’m thinking about you” or “I’m sending positive thoughts your way,” I don’t feel encouraged. I don’t need happy thoughts sent my way. I need prayer sent God’s way!

When we tell someone that we will pray for them we are agreeing to put on the armor and head to the front lines of battle on their behalf. We are locking our shields and making our appeals with other warriors on someone else’s behalf.

Many ancient shields had brackets attached to the sides. These brackets were a type of latch that soldiers used to lock shields during battle. When the shields were locked together, the soldiers moved as one force, forming a barricade against the enemy.

Alone, the shield was a small defense. Together they formed a human wall. Do you see the significance? When we lock arms in prayer with others, we are locking our shields together and forming a powerfully strong fortress of defense.

One night I was in the restroom touching up my makeup before speaking to several hundred women. I was having one of those moments when I looked in the mirror and thoughts began to swirl in my mind. What am I doing here? What do I possibly have to say to these women that could make any difference in their lives? I am not capable of walking to that podium tonight.

While I was mulling over the lies and the fiery darts Satan was shooting into my flimsy armor, my cell phone rang.

“Hi Sharon. This is Mary (My GiG Mary).  Where are you?”

“Actually, I’m standing in the restroom at a speaking engagement getting ready to walk out on the stage. I forgot to turn off my cell phone!”

“I want you to know,” Mary continued, “God interrupted me while I was cooking dinner and told me to pray for you. Not only that, He told me to call you…now.”

I was imagining Mary standing in her kitchen with spaghetti sauce simmering on the stove and stopping mid-stir. There might have been a little conversation with God that went something like this:

God: Call Sharon and pray for her.

Mary: Could you just wait a minute God? The sauce is almost done.

God: Call Sharon and pray for her.

Mary: OK, OK, I’ll do it now.

There was great power in Mary’s instant obedience. If she had waited, I would not have known that she was praying. Not only did God prompt her to pray at that moment, He wanted her to tell me that she was doing so. Why? God knew that there was power in her prayer, and He wanted me to know that I was not going into battle alone. He had called Mary to “struggle with me,” to “strive together in battle,” to lock arms with me and march into victory.

I’d like to pray for you. Leave a comment and let’s struggle together in prayer. I encourage you to go to the comments and link arms with your other sisters in Christ and pray for them.

Dear Heavenly Father, thank You for giving us godly girlfriends to pray for us and with us. Thank you that you called women to join together as mighty prayer warriors with shields linked together, marching into battle as one unified force. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Is there someone God is calling you to pray for today? If so, email them a prayer or pray for them over the phone!

  1. I am weighed down by the burden of watching my kids and grandkids drift in the wrong direction. As a parent, I do know that they are God’s child now and not my own. I stand firm on God’s Word that if you raise a child in the way they should go, when they are old they will not depart from it. My boys were all raised knowing who the Lord is and making a commitment to Him with their life. My oldest will be 40 this year and I no longer see God first in his life. Same thing with the two younger sons. I’m sad when I see the example my children are setting for their children.

    1. I am with you Robin. Even better God’s with you. I have 2 God children whose mother passed away a few years ago. They are 24 and 17 now. The grown-up world and evil one is after them hard. They were raised in church and close to the Lord at one time. I regularly pray for and plead the blood of Jesus over them. Our God is so good and able. Know that my prayers are with you also. God has done so much in my life. Trust over doubt. Faith over fear. May you feel God’s presence and peace. I love you sister.

    2. Wow, Robin, I am a step mom of three grown children, their spouses and 7 grandkids. My heart aches for them as yours does for your family. Thanks for being open and honest by sharing your heart. That in itself encourages me in our struggle to pray our kids home. May we continue to be faithful to live our lives before them and continue to intercede for them on their behalf. ❤️

    3. One my favorite scripture for standing for my family is Acts 2:38 – 39
Being a parent isn’t always easy, but remember God will make a way.

    4. When I read your post, I immediately thought of my own family. You described my situation with our daughter. I will continually pray for your children to return to God. Please pray that my daughter will do the samel.

    5. Hi Robin! Something that God impressed upon me by prophet Jennifer Eivaz is to pray Jude 1:24 over myself. My family, my church, those around me.
“Now all glory to God, who is able to keep you from falling away and will bring you with great joy into his glorious presence without a single fault.”
      ‭‭Jude‬ ‭1:24‬ ‭NLT‬‬
I join you in declaring this in prayer over your children and grandchildren. Christ’s love to you sister!

    6. Never give up. My mom prayed for me for 12 years & I finally turned back to God and never turned back🌷🙏! In my private thoughts I often felt empty during that time and finally realized only God could fill it🥰

      1. Katie, Thank you for that encouragement. From me as a Mom you and God’s word just did a confirmation for my son to return. His name is Evan. Please as a sister in Christ lift him up as well.

    7. Robin, you wrote my thoughts and concerns exactly. My oldest son will be 40 this year. He gave his heart to Jesus when he was little but has chosen to walk away. They are not teaching their children about Jesus. They are living only for themselves. We can’t talk spiritual things at all with any of our kids. I know exactly the feeling of sadness and a sense of urgency and anxiety as I watch them follow the wide road and not the narrow one that leads to eternity with Christ. I am praying for you and your family. May God give you peace and hope and faith to never stop praying for your children and never stop loving them as Jesus does. God bless you!

    8. I have the same issue with my three boys. I just continue to pray for them and try not to get discouraged. And I have a great phone app “GodForKids” that my four year old grandson loves to do. I

    9. I am in that same place with my grown children and grandchildren, My peace with it is The prodigal son , my arms are open , praying daily for this.
Just pray and pray till you can’t pray anymore , giving thanks for all things

    10. Thank you for sharing your prayer request, Robin. You are clearly not alone. My heart aches over my 2 adult sons, too. My frequent prayer is that the rocks and shoals in my boys’ paths will lead them to know Christ. We can certainly trust the One who died for us.

    11. So sorry Robin. I know how hard that is. I’m a mom too and we just want the best for our children. Praying you hold on to the truth that they did commit their lives to the Lord so they are His. You are a great mom who showed your kids the love of Jesus and they won’t depart from that. I pray that they will recommit to following the Lord in every aspect of their lives.

    12. Robin, our daughter is 31. Same thing. I’m a fixer and have tried to quietly remind her of her youth groups during school and have encouraged her to read the many books written by all my favorite Christian authors. (The same authors who brought me back to Christ.) A few years ago I asked a pastor what I should do. He told me to pray daily for the Holy Spirit to renew the faith she once had. I do that. It’s often frustrating to spend time with she and her husband, (who prompted her to question God, the Bible and His Creation….)
Now we have a granddaughter who needs to be read stories about Jesus. It’s time for her to know
But we’ve been warned!! I’m locking shields with you and let’s pray for these kids to see the light. It may take something occurring that snaps them to attention. I’ll pray we ALL make it through that inevitability! God be with us!

      1. Sounds as though many of us are sharing the story. All three of my sons were raised in church and very active. One was still in church until covid hit. His family no longer attends church. He has a 12 & 17 year old. The other two haven’t been to church since their children were born. Breaks my heart. Satan is trying his best to destroy our families.

    13. Dear Robin,
Never give up praying for them. My daughter did try to do things her own way even though she was brought up in a christian home and accepted Jesus as her Savior at a very young age. The Bible says ‘train up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it. She is now 58 a in the past several years she has turned back to the Lord and loves to share His great love with everyone. God’s promises are true and sometimes we need to give our children to Him and not try to interfere with what he may be doing or letting them go through to draw them back to himself. Just love them and pray for them. Good bless you and give you strength to keep on praying and believing God will do what is best.

    14. Here is another verse that I have stood on: Jeremiah 31

16 This is what the Lord says:

      “Restrain your voice from weeping
      and your eyes from tears,
for your work will be rewarded,”
      declares the Lord.
“They will return from the land of the enemy.
17 So there is hope for your descendants,”
      declares the Lord.
“Your children will return to their own border.
I will be in prayer for all of us Mamas!

    15. Hi, I know that feeling of be helpless because your children are grown. But I here to tell you that they will only go so far! Jesus will smitten anyone who messes with his children.! I continue to pray for my children no matter how bad it seem, and today they are save and love the Lord. Remember that we don’t seen the whole picture Jesus does! I pray palms 91 for my boys and family. Have faith my sister. God will never leave you or forsaken you.
      Blessings

    16. Robin – I feel your pain and I will pray for your 3 boys. I have 3 boys also – the eldest went to Bible College for 2 years and we thought when he returned home he would have some kind of ministry either within our church family or beyond – but sadly, when he would come back home, our church had moved on and were in the process of elevating others who are no longer with our church family. Our son felt abandoned and rejected and as such has felt quite bitter and not really interested in our church or any other for that matter. My 2 youngest also feel that they are not part of the church family any more as there is a huge void between them and the next generations.
My heart breaks for my boys as this is the only church family they know and they do not have the confidence to look elsewhere or attend our fellowship. They have not found soul partners either and they are feeling discouraged waiting on God’s best for them for wives.
They are 31, 26 and 16 years of age at present. I want God’s blessing upon their lives and hold on to the promise in Isaiah 54:13 – that states “all your children shall be taught be the Lord and great shall be the peave of your children”. Amen

    17. You are not alone Robin. I too have adult children who have lost their way and have not placed God in their lives. I keep wondering where did I go wrong and know I can’t look back but pray they will find their way. Thank you for sharing and May our prayers together make some difference.

    18. Robin,
I have been in your situation with 2 sons aged 42 and 38 now. They were raised in the Methodist church, but dropped religion in college and never went back until their (Catholic) wives independently “worked on them” for years quietly through their actions. I never though the boys would return to God, but they have. They both with their wives were all baptized by choice this past year. I pray to God that this may happen to you too.

    19. Hi Robin, I feel your pain. I am in the same shoes . My boys don’t see the need of their Saviour but I’m praying that their hearts will be touched somehow. God is so good he will do whatever to save them. I’m praying for your boys.

      I

    20. Robin,
I am right there with you. I have adult children and adult grandchildren that have walked away from the Lord and are daily accepting the ‘woke’ society. My heart is broken, ‘but God!’ I am covering them daily in prayer. I believe God is still pursuing them as he is your precious loved ones.❤️

    21. Robin, I am also in the same situation with my 3 daughters. Raised in Sunday School and church but in their married lives, they no,longer attend so my 3 grandkids haven’t been exposed to Bible stories and Jesus. Breaks my heart. I will continue to pray for my girls and the “kids” of all of us mommas in the same boat.

    22. Thank you for sharing – I understand completely as I feel the same way about my friend children. They are amazing, hard working, caring people – but God isn’t first and it terrifies me with the world we are living in. I am lifting you up in my prayers.

    23. Robin I will pray for you family. My prayer is that you will continue to show them God’s love & that they will realize their need for God. Remember it’s their walk & it’s not over. Stay faithful Robin & let God work. I am praying for your whole family.

    24. Oh Robin,
I can deeply identify with you. As a grandmother now, I see my adult grandchildren making poor choices, or choices that have nothing to do with God1s values. I start blaming myself for my mistakes/ sin along the way and wishing I could have done things differently. But I can`t. I have to keep praying for my family, and asking Him to intervene and do what only He can do, capture their hearts. My prayer for them and for your children and grandchildren is that the Lord would give them the joy of His salvation. Psalm 51:12.
I pray that the Lord will answer our prayer. with love in our faithful Lord Jesus, Ruth.

    25. I feel you. All three of my kids made commitments to Christ in their middle school years. We are/were Christians, but so much turmoil and anger in our home when they were growing up left a negative impact. I have apologized and sought their forgiveness for this, which they have given. Not one is actively seeking/following Christ. None live close by — our grands are not being taught or attending church. They are all good, responsible, kind and caring people. My middle daughter, who was the most spiritual, has gotten sucked into all kinds of new age teaching and is following that path. It breaks my heart. I will join you in prayer for your children and ask you do the same for mine. Also, my husband (married 49 years tomorrow), a VietNam vet was just diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease. Please pray for our family.

  2. Thank you for your uplifting words of encouragement. They fill my heart with love and adoration not only for God, but for my fellow travelers. Please pray with and for me to receive God’s discernment for my next steps toward glorification of Him. In Jesus’ name I pray.

    Amen!

  3. Thank you, Sharon, for your always wise words. If you could pray for me this week, I’d appreciate it. It’s been 11 months since my husband died. I’m generally adjusting well but it’s hard this week. Friday, the 12th would have been our 50th wedding anniversary. We were beginning to plan a whole family vacation to Hawaii when he was diagnosed with cancer. I know he’s celebrating this milestone with the saints in heaven, but I’m missing him terribly here on earth. Please pray that I can continue my feelings of gratitude for the years God gave me with him and not wallow in self pity.

    1. I want you to know that I have prayed for you and will continue to do so, I know exactly how you feel as my husband died suddenly 5 years ago. I miss him terribly still.

    2. Oh Claire sending you a comforting hug. My husband went home to be with the Lord 10 months ago from cancer as well. We would have celebrated 44 years this past February, it’s been a hard grief journey but especially more so on our special occasions. But I am reminded daily of Gods love and precious care for me and my family.
Praying our great and amazing God will comfort you with His steadfast love and His merciful peace during this time when you’re missing your hubby so much more. You are loved and cared for. Blessings from above.

      ***************************

Sharon thank you for the reminder that we are to pray and encourage others. And to be obedient when the Lord prompts us. My husband and I were so blessed when so many people, most we knew, some not very well and some we didn’t know at all, who came alongside us, held us up during his cancer. And many are still doing so for me since his passing. I never understood prayer intercession as much as I have in these last two years. And how important it is to ask for prayer and especially to be obedient to the Lord in His promptings to pray for and encourage others even more so in my season of grief. I can never repay anyone for being there for us through all those prayers and they don’t expect me to, but as I pray and encourage others it is wondrously helping me to continue forward with God through this grief journey I am on. Thank you once again.
      Much love and God’s blessings.

  4. My husband who has kidney failure as a result of heart disease
Strength for me his loving care giver
    Peace for us both

  5. Prayers for our family dynamics with our grandson and his future wife. Our relationship is broken. He wants nothing to do with his side of the family. Mother, father, aunt, uncle, grandparents, siblings. There was a major incident that happened in his immediate family 2 years ago and the anger and resentment has built between them and us. The wedding is in late September of this year. I will not be attending the wedding unless something major happens between us all. I am prepared to not have them in my life. But I couldn’t take it if my son and the rest of his family abandoned us. It hurts. I know there needs to be forgiveness on both sides. There needs to be actual conversations, counseling but not through text or any other electronics. It needs to be in person. Please I do not know what to pray. He and I were very close at one time. It is like he changed when he became serious with his fiancé. At least that is what we all think. Please pray for healing and uniting.

  6. Please pray for the family of Steve Calarco who went home to God last Saturday He was our Sunday School teacher, Lay Leader, Disciple Bible Study Leader. And a great Christian brother..

  7. I would like prayers for our Women’s retreat this year. That God would be glorified first and foremost and that the women attending would be blessed in a mighty and powerful way – to fall in love with Jesus in a more deep satisfying relationship. Our retreat is Nov 12. Thank you!

  8. I love your devotions. I read them almost daily and I don’t normally do this, but I’m asking for prayers. Between my toxic job situation and my health it feels like it’s almost more than I can handle. I know God is with me every minute and I talk to Him daily but it helps knowing that there are others praying for you ♥️

  43. Please Pray for me, I lost my husband in Feb. I thought I was going to be ok, I watched him suffer and decline and couldn’t do anything about it but take care of him. I felt I was going to be ok, because I knew he was in a better place with no pain, he could walk and not fall ( he would be whole again ). I miss him so much, and feel guilty for praying for God to take him so he would not have to suffer any longer..
life will never be the same, the kids even though are grown, don’t get alone, grandkids resent one another for one reason or another. I don’t know how to pray anymore. I talk to Jesus and I ask for peace for myself for this world , for the sick and neglected and homeless.

  44. I am 64 years old and was just laid off of a job I had been at for 7 years. Our company had been sold and was bought out by a larger corporation. I did nothing wrong, they were just having cut backs. I have 2 more years until I can retire. I have not had to search for a job in over 17 years. Jobs always made their way to me. I have seen where God has put jobs in my path in the past at just the right time with the right benefits. I’ve seen His hand work in my life through my jobs. I believe and trust in him but I am nervous and don’t know how to make that stop. I am anxious that I won’t be able to find a good job again because of my age and I just do not want to do the work necessary to find a new job and start over. My prayer request is that God will show me his will sooner rather than later as I am an anxious person. I need to find affordable medical insurance as soon as possible and it would be an added blessing to find a hybrid or remote job. Thank you for your prayers!

  45. Please pray for guidance and discernment in our family. My father-in-law is in the hospital, he is 93, a strong independent man. He is nearing the end of this life on earth and we are awaiting his transition to be with Jesus eternally. He is bedridden and angry. My mother -in-law is struggling with this transition both physically and mentally; she also suffers from the beginning of dementia. She cannot be alone at this time so my husband is staying with her. Our home is in a different state, 6 hours away. I am traveling back and forth to help out but we have a son getting ready to leave for college. There are many things going on in addition to what is above. We are believers and know that God is with us, providing the strength needed at this time. So many decisions to be made and so many questions unanswered. We ask God to continue to wrap His arms around us so that we can follow His will, His plan, to give us the guidance and discernment to go forward. God is so good! We don’t doubt that His hand is upon us, but we are tired and seek His comfort and peace.

  46. Thank you for the invitation. I hesitated to participate out of skepticism. However as I closed the email, due to a glitch in my phone, the notification popped up again. Then Holy Spirit reminded me of some things I’ve been praying for alone or struggling with alone and how it couldn’t hurt at all to allow other powerful belivers to stand in the trenches with you. Especially to watch the power of God move when we don’t know each other’s stories! This is considered experiencing another level in God! I’ve always prayed and go before the Lord strong on the behalf of others, sometimes not as strong for myself. So warriors I’m asking that you all pray with me regarding Promotion and Fair treatment with employment, Favor with the insurance company and attorneys. New vehicle with low payments, College acceptance for my Senior, Struggle with releasing stronghold sinful relationships, struggle with loneliness, struggle with believing that I am a leader, and struggle with Trusting people. Also financial breakthrough with purchasing a Home, and financial freedom. I’ve never been on a real vacation and for my mental, spiritual and physical health, I’m needing this sooner than later. I’m a single mother of 2, it hasn’t been easy, yet they are the greatest Blessings! Thank you, I’m looking forward to standing in the gap for you all as well.
    Love Abundantly!

      1. Please help me pray for my mother and sister; I am financially responsible for my family. My mom has not had a job in 6 years despite her great experience in HR; she has been applying and we are believing God for a miracle job. My sister as well just started her first job at the age of 31 and lost the job because of conspiracies at the job about her.
Please pray with me that God will favour my mom and sister with good jobs in new seasons for their lives.

Thank you, I will be praying for you as well.

  47. Since my best friend died 4 years ago, I no longer have a close Christian friend. My husband is an unbeliever, my family has all passed, and I miss having that physical and spiritual friendship. Please pray for me to have someone to lock shields with.

  48. My husband and I need wisdom on our next move. He’s in the military and has a new job. I (with our 2 young boys) can either stay where we are or move where his new job will be 2.5 hours away, or I can move back home near my family 5 hrs away. There’s many dynamics with each choice. So we need guidance.

  49. Prayer for me to step aside and let Jesus work in my life, I need to stop trying to “help” Jesus along. I need to trust Jesus enough, with my life, to know that God made me for His glory.

  50. Thank you! I can use all the prayers right now. My daughter is going into her senior year and I know God has a plan for her. I’ve been doing well up until this point and now I’m trying not to worry about what colleges will accept her and if we can afford it. It’s a different world than it was when I graduated high school. She has worked very hard and God had blessed us, I just want her to have options and be happy.

    1. My daughter Erin is 35 and stage 4 also. Diagnosed 3 years ago. I will pray for your Sara and your family. I love the visual of locking shields!
I am also praying for wisdom in my 41 year marriage – Erin’s dad moved out of our home 11 months ago…so emotionally it’s brutal but God is so faithful to me.

  51. Thank you for this …. prayers for me to pass all three exams this week which will determine if I graduate on Saturday and start graduate school in two weeks. I an anxious and in prayer that I can do this for my two minor children who through my studies to attain my undergraduate degree have also gone through a painful 3 1/2 year divorce with me. The toll on the three of us has been life-changing, emotionally, spiritually and physically. This message was refreshing to hear. Visualizing other women praying for and with me inspired me to write. Thank you for this platform and sharing your purpose!

  52. Please pray for me to deal with a failed relationship and all the grief and loneliness that comes with it. I would also like you to pray for him because he is totally lost right now. Please keep my daughter in your prayers too, as she is battling many things right now. I know God will make a way, I just pray for peace and healing for us all.

  53. Please pray for my church. I feel it’s being attack. We have so much division in our church due to a group that came in our church while under an interim pastor. The church doesn’t know actually what is taken place. We are seeking a new pastor but with the division I feel it will effect our finding a new pastor

  54. I would like to lift up my youngest sister Sally. Today is her 12th year wedding anniversary but she has been separated from her husband since 2011. Tonight we had a family anniversary for my parents who have been married for 47 years and my younger sisters Sandylynn and Sally 12th wedding years. I was also baptized/dedicated as a baby, and also my parents early years as Deacons (now they’re Pastors) serving in church. August 9 is a special time for my family. Any ways Sally has been separated but she invited her ex husband to come to our little dinner. My parents and I were very angry at her. I said some unkind words and my dad almost beat her. Now as I lay in bed, I realized how Sally must have loved and missed him. She has mental illness and we know her ex was just using her for money. That time they were married he didn’t work. When my dad gets paid he would expect my dad to buy his needs. It’s a real problem with us. He’s not capable of providing for his ‘lil family (they have a son). I now wonder what’s going on in Sally’s mind. She probably misses her ex. My parents and I are protecting her of being taken advantage of and not being provided for. So, I lift up my sister Sally in prayers. That God would restore her and protect her.

  55. Thank you for sharing this Sharon. I am so grateful today. I forget how many years ago shortly after we finished our house i felt i should use it for the Lord and we started a woman’s group in my house. With Knowing God by Name as our first book study. We’ve done several of your books over time and they have all grown me immensely in my faith. Especially Sudden Glory. The ladies in this group have grown together and a few of them now have become my prayer warrior group. What a blessing. We have found a true connection in prayer and building each other up in the spirit.
Pray for me.as my faith grows I have struggled with anxiety and depression and am finding the source of my fears and insecurities. My family is struggling a lot with moms health and memory and some major issues that leave me in fear and avoidance. I cannot deal with conflict on my own but my faith. My God. My sisters have been calling me to be peace maker instead of trying to keep peace. I need to find my victory in the Lord and peace in myself. Count on the power of God to love them in the uncomfortable places. I cannot do it on my own. Lord make me whole again and help love my family in Jesus’ ways and not human ways. Take away the spirit of fear in me.

  56. I’ve been struggling with a job change. I have worked at the same place for 36 years. During that time, I’ve had 8 different bosses that I was able to work with and be on the same page. A new much younger boss came on board about 4 years ago. I realized that he didn’t have much use for people with experience although this was his first real job as a boss. I didn’t push but went about doing my job and letting him know what I was doing as things were in process or completed. If he asked me my opinion about something, I would gladly give him my thoughts. It has been difficult especially the last 5 months. Rules didn’t always apply or not to everyone, decisions were made by the boss that were like a bomb going off on a smoothly run train. Seven out of ten of my employees left because of his choices leaving me to have to pick up the pieces and try to fill these spots in a profession where there are a shortage of teachers. Please pray for God to lead me as I try to figure out the path that He wants me to be on. His will not my will!

  57. Thank you for writing these wonderful devotionals. They always seem to hit me at the right time with what I need to hear! I often share them with co-workers, family & friends. My prayer request is that I can be content with having Jesus as the only man walking beside me at this time. I have been single for many years, co-raising my son with my ex-husband. I would love to be married again & know that God has someone in store for me but I’ve been struggling in the waiting.

  58. Thank you for sharing Sharon. I look forward to each one. Asking for prayers on behalf of my sisters that have health problems. Prayers to be a safe place for someone to share their struggles and weaknesses. I desire to be a light for Jesus in our dark dsyst..

  59. Please pray for me as I’m coming up on my 51st anniversary with my husband and we’ve had a rocky marriage. I feel like it’s my fault with my bad attitude. I pray that God will give me a true deep love for him and that we can live out the rest of our lives happy.

  60. Please pray that my diabetes will be controlled. My blood sugars are not in a good range and I am trying very hard to count carbs while adjusting to new meds which have nasty side effects at times. Thanks so much for your encouraging words and prayers! I need some help today.

  61. Please pray for my husband. He has been struggling with mental Illness for a long time. He has been unemployed now since January 1, 2022. He’s in bed 24/7. We are seeing a new doc since May. He been more proactive then previous doctors. Waiting for the right meds to start working. No income for 8 1/2 months is hard! Please pray for a miracle of healing & a job for our family of 5. Thank you so much 🙏🏻💗

  62. I’m starting a new ladies video Bible study at our church next Tuesday evening. This is something I’ve never done before but God put it on my heart about 3 years ago…and then covid hit. I believe now is the time God has planned for fellowship and strengthening the ladies of my church. I’m very much out of my comfort zone, but I’m going to try my very best to show God’s love through this study. Please pray for my nervousness to just go away and for God to be Glorified. Thank you! 😊

  63. Thank you so much for this devotional. I am grateful for the women I have that pray with and for me.
I am requesting prayer, I was recently diagnosed with colon cancer and have had surgery to remove the tumor. It was successful and there is no cancer anywhere else in my body. I will have to have some adjuvant chemo. I am grateful to God through it all, but not knowing how I will respond to the treatment I am nervous. Asking for a good response from my body and a very clean bill of health. May everyone I am in contact with see the glory of our God ❣️

  64. I am struggling today. In fact I have been struggling awhile know with whether I am ready when Jesus returns. I am 52 and was brought up by Christian parents. I have followed God and then would fall again and try to due it on my own. I know Jesus is coming soon and I want to be ready. Please pray for me to feel forgiven. I also need a mentor or girlfriend in Christ to help me and keep me accountable. Please pray God sends that person my way!

    1. Traci – like you I struggled with being uncertain about my salvation. I was raised in a Christian home. When I was 17 I became a believer and asked Jesus to be the Lord of my life. Then Life happened. I went back and forth still believing in my salvation. As I look back on my life (I am 70 now) I see God very clearly in every aspect of my life. He walked with me through some difficult times, never leaving me. My life verse Jeremiah 29:11 I know the plans I have for you……………. The enemy will feed you all these lies. Don’t believe him. He is already been defeated. Stay strong. I am praying that you will find a Bible believing Church and believers that will come beside you and lift you up. Look for a Ladies Bible Study in your area. May God Bless you. Elaine

  65. Thank you Sharon for the reminder of hearing God and to be obedient to what he asks.
I would ask you to join me in prayer for my son Robert. He is a alcoholic and is currently in jail for his 2nd DUI in a month. He knows the way to God, but he has hardened his heart so he doesn’t hear the call clearly.
    Thank you!

  66. 12 years ago my husband left me but has never been able to verbalize a reason why. Satan just came in and attacked him as he was having a breakdown. He also turned our three children against me. They have one by one turned away from God. Pray that God will turn my husband and my children’s hearts back to him and that Our relationships will be healed.

  67. Thank you for all of your devotions that you send, when I need them the most.
Prayers for you in that you are doing to draw us nearer to our Lord Jesus Christ.
I have a request from you. Would you please send you Girlfriends in God devotion.,
you sent out awhile ago if you could. It was Throwing Rocks. Thanks
    My email

  68. Thank you for all of your devotions that you send, when I need them the most.
Prayers for you in that you are doing to draw us nearer to our Lord Jesus Christ.
I have a request from you. Would you please send you Girlfriends in God devotion.,

  69. My heart felt prayer goes to Covenant Women facing marrital stress.. May the Lord grant them inner strength and wisdom to carry on.

  70. Can you all please pray for a positive turn around in my marriage and within my family? My marriage has been strained and struggling for quite sometime now and my husband and I just seem to totally be growing in two different directions. My husband is also resistant to therapy/counseling and taking necessary steps in efforts to try to improve our marriage. I just pray for sincere and lasting restoration, reconciliation, health and prosperity in all areas of my family’s life, effective communication and unity within my family unit. Thank you for your prayers in unison and I’m also faithful in prayer with all of you too for your needs and desires to be met as well! Amen ❤️

    1. Brittany, I am pray the Lord would prompt and provoke your husband into repentance and motivate him to turn to some means of restoration – counseling, Hope Restored conference, books, podcasts – something to move him and both of you on the road to recovery of intimacy in your marriage.
I, too, am facing a similar problem in my 31 year marriage. My husband finally realizes he is having difficulty communicating with his kids, especially the two youngest daughters, of whom one is heading to university and the other is returning to our overseas teaching positions in Albania. Nevertheless, his response is to shut down, reject the offer of counseling (doesn’t want to spend the money), reject reading relevant books, reject calling the free help line of Focus on the Family, reject listening to free podcasts. OK. If he doesn’t want to do anything to solve the problem, then what?
If anyone who reads this can also pray for me and my daughter Acadia in the upcoming school year, I would greatly appreciate it. I spend summers and Christmas break in Concord, NC

  71. Please pray for me. I’ve been sick for a week and a half. Started with a sinus infection and now has become an uncontrolled cough. I’m under medical care, but nothing seems to work. I’m so sore and worn out. Thanks for your prayers

    1. Father God i ask that you bring YOUR PEACE relief and healing and complete trust in your timing and healing of your daughter! In your previous HOLY NAME JESUS, AMEN

  72. Please pray for our situation about our house. We have applied for help with our mortage company. The process is taking awhile. Pray that I will look to Jesus and that he has good plans for me.

  73. Dear Traci, Was there ever a time when you accepted Jesus as your Savior? Did you write it down anywhere? If not, you can always reaffirm that you realize you are a sinner and that Jesus took the punishment for ALL your sins when he died on the cross and rose again 3 days later. The bible says, Eph.2: 8 For it is by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not from yourselves, it is a gift of God not by works, so no one can boast. Romans 10: 9 That if you confess with your mouth, Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you WILL be saved. and verse13 For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord WILL be saved. So if you are saved God promised to take you home to be with him forevermore. You ARE forgiven. Sometimes we slip and don’t always do God’s will but he has given us scripture to encourage us and let us know we are forgiven. And He never stops loving us. NEVER. But we may lose the ability to communicate or pray and he understands. We go our own way and forget to pray and ask direction and then things don’t always go right. But I John 1;9 was written to believers and says ‘that if we confess our sin (pray to God about it) He is faithful and just to forgive us our sin and cleanse us from all unrighteousness’ which then restores our fellowship with Him through the Holy Spirit that lives in us. Our “enemy” who is satan comes to steal , kill and destroy. He loves to make us doubt what God has said. But he is no equal with God because he was a created being and can’t create anything. But our heavenly Father created everything . So keep reading your Bible and let God show you what He wants you to know in his words. Love and prayers to you , sister in Christ.

  74. Please pray for my work situation that it will continue to improve. Pray for a family situation that I will have peace about it. Also would like to say Thank you God, for answering prayers.. I had a situation that I had been praying about since May.. and God answered my prayer. Thank you in advance for praying for me and my family.

  75. Hi.
My husband was diagnosed with ALS. I pray for his healing every day. Yet, there are days, I feel so discouraged because the disease seems to be worse. Please pray that I will continue to believe in complete healing .

  76. Thank you for your post. I am struggling with several severe health conditions and am very weary. My daughter has become tired of me and my problems. She’s turned away from the Lord, and I worry about her. I’d appreciate any prayer at all. Thank you.

  77. Please pray for my sons. They have had a falling out and one is saying that he will not go to any family gatherings or his brother’s house any more. Pray that family is reunited and past hurts and feeling are forgiven between brothers, wives and girlfriends. Thank you.

  78. I run a religious nonprofit prison ministry. With COVID and lockdowns and prison politics in being a woman, the adversarial battle is exhausting. Finding Christians to help pour into our incarcerated as I teach rehabilitative programming that I wrote is hard. I claim strength, perseverance and His grace so we may introduce our incarcerated to the love of Christ and shower their lives with the power of transformation that occurs through redemption.

    Blessings and immense gratitude, Tammy

  79. I have a daughter who refuses to speak to me, answer texts, etc. please pray with me for her heart to be healed & softened.

  80. I came into marriage debt free and I need prayer for a pending divorce that involves a huge, huge debt – pray for courage, wisdom, guidance and help from an excellent attorney to help me. Married 23 years. I know prayer works and need encouragement, financial support and Godly counsel. Thank you

  81. For the past few years, my marriage and my family life have been up and down. I am thankful that I see strengthening, and I ask for prayer that we will continually move toward the Lord as we work together to be an example of Christ and His Church. I also work in a ministry that requires constant wisdom and discernment. Please pray that my thoughts, my words, and my actions will be under HIs authority, and that it will glorify Him.

  82. I know this might sound silly but I recently lost my cockatiel Rodan who was with me for 18 and a half years through good and bad ups and downs. I’m not married and I don’t have any family left so she was really it. I feel lost right now because I’m supposed to be the strong one for all of my friends and the people I work with and I feel like I’m falling apart I just need prayers for strength to overcome this grief. The grief for her has brought out all the grief for losing both my mom and my dad in the years past and my big brother unexpectedly.

  83. I am blessed to read this.. please pray for me. I’m almost 40 and still single. My family and friends from work and church have been asking me with when I’m getting married and starting a family and their words starting to get at me. I stopped socializing because I’m always asked the same question and I’m scared I might never become a mother. I believe God is faithful and he will see me through.

  84. Please pray for me. One who for 35 years has felt alone and lonely in my marriage. One who works pt and sleeps. I feel more lonely with him than i would without him. Praying for an out. Im 60, this won’t change. Ge has no desire to.

  85. I am reading all the prayers of mothers for their adult children. I am 72 years old, accepted Christ at a young age, was raised in a Christian Church. And yet, when I left home, I departed from God’s will over my life. God never left me nor forake me. Even when I thought I was “happy” in the worldly ways, I always had a void for more. At age 69 God started pulling hard on my heart strings. I am back in His glorious blessings and in His word and an active member again at Church. When we become a child of God, and walk our path instead of His, we will thankfully always feel a void in our lives until we return back to God. God is faithful and wants only the best for His children. And now, I too, am praying for my 46 yr old daughter to return to His plan for her life. ❤️❤️🙏🙏 God is Good!

  86. Dear Lovely Women of God, thank you for sharing your requests for prayers. I’m adding a request, my dear daughter is looking for her life partner. She wants very much to have a loving husband and this desire eludes her (at this point). I pray multiple times a day for God to bring that man into her life. She’s expressed her loneliness to me and it truly breaks my heart. Please pray for God to send her a husband who will love and cherish her, who she will love and cherish in turn.
Many thanks for this forum to share with other women of God. It’s a blessing to me.

  87. MY children have not renewed their lease and yhe complex has addded fees tha should not be added. pray for God’s favor.

  88. I have a hard time putting into words all that I’m struggling with. I am always amazed at how others can express themselves so clearly. I know I need prayer, yet I don’t know what to ask for? I want to pray for others, but I lack the words that are needed. They seem to be mumble jumble and not effective. I did not grow up in a Christian family. I gave my life to Jesus when I turned 40. That was 23 years ago and I still feel as if I’m lacking…..fill in the blank. My husband is on the fench and doubts that God is in control or even exists. He’s an alcoholic and very angry with family and some friends. My son, not a believer. My granddaughter is gender confused, My other granddaughter walked away from God. My youngest granddaughter says church is not her thing. I feel as if their wills are keeping God from working. My faith seems weak and the attacks keep coming. Please pray that I don’t give into the lies Satan is throwing at me. I know God is working and He is bigger than all that’s going on in my world…. sometimes I just feel defeated. It is comforting to know I’m not alone. I love all you ladies for sharing your hearts. Thank you Sharon for being real and relatable

    1. Jody! I am praying for you. Stay connected here and to the church, your Sisters. We are all in this together! Just be honest with God, when we don’t know what to pray the Spirit intercedes for us.

In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. Romans 8:26

Keep going, don’t give up. Pray Gods word and His promises to us back to Him. You are loved. You are seen.

  89. Please pray for my marriage. My husband works out of town and he may not be making the greatest decisions. Thanks so much, Sisters!

  90. Greetings to you Sharon. Thank you for your encouragement. just this morning I was being rebuked by the Spirit of the Lord for feeling inadequate and thinking that I am not worthy to carry out an assignment . its a good feeling to know that a sister is praying for you. Thank you. Tumelo(Botswana-Africa)

  91. My husband has suffered stroke 5 times already. He has been paralyzed for 5 years. But God has been faithful to us through that situation. He watches over us and over provided for us. I pray that you continue to trust God too no matter what situation you are in today. God is still in control and His love endures forever.
Pray for my sons David and Ralph that God establish them permanently in the country where the live now.

  92. Im struggling big time. Im a new pastor who recently got her own small church and I feel so disconnected from God. I struggle with sermons. Im struggle with any kind of connection with God. I feel like im drowning due to crazy business stuff going on thats taking so much of my time but I just can’t reconnect with God. I ask myself daily did God put me here to Pastor or did I put myself here. Maybe it’s not where he was calling me and I missed it. How could he want me to Pastor when I’m a mess myself.
