Do You Expect God to Answer?

In the morning, LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly. Psalm 5:3 NIV

Have you ever prayed about something, but didn’t really expect God to answer…I mean really expect it. That happened to a bunch of Peter’s friends.

In the early years of the church, King Herod had many Christians murdered and many more put in prison. James, the brother of John, was put to death with the sword, and Peter was thrown into prison.

The night before Peter was to be taken to trial, a group gathered at Mary’s (John’s mother’s) house to pray for him. While they were praying, there was a knock at the door. A servant girl named Rhoda answered it.

“Who is there?” she asked.

“It is Peter,” the freed apostle answered.

She knew it was Peter—she recognized his voice! God had answered their prayers! Rhoda was so excited, she didn’t even let Peter in, but ran back to tell the group that he was standing at the door.

“You’re out of your mind,” they told her. “Maybe it is his angel.”

Peter kept knocking. Finally they opened the door and were astonished to see Peter alive and well, standing right in front of them.

Why were they surprised? Why didn’t they believe Rhoda? While they were praying for Peter’s release, they didn’t really expect God to free him. Do you see it? We can pray about a situation and miss the glory moment standing at the door because of unbelief and low expectations that God would actually answer.

Sometimes, I fear we have lowered our spiritual expectations to match the experiences of people we know, rather than what we read in the Bible. We look around and see what has occurred in the lives of other believers, and that’s where we set the bar. As a result, we lead mediocre lives, forfeiting the abundant life Jesus came to give.

Here’s what I want you to do today. Pray and then expect God to answer! I love what David wrote: In the morning, LORD, you hear my voice; in the morning I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly, (Psalm 5:3 NIV).

Let’s Pray

Dear Lord, I am bringing my prayers before you today. Forgive me for praying and not expecting You to answer. Here is my prayer:  (Fill in this spot with you own prayer.) I lay my requests before you and wait expectantly. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

What do you Think?

If you don’t keep a prayer journal, consider getting one. This could be a simple notebook, or a cute bound blank book. The dollar store is a great place for cute little journals.

Write down your prayer requests and then make a note as to how God answered and the date:

Yes. No. Wait.

Let’s pray for each other today.  Share your prayer request in the comment box and then pray for the sisters’ comment entry above and below yours on my blog page.

 Want More?

My new book, A Sudden Glory: God’s Lavish Response to Your Ache for Something More, is all about raising your expectations to experience the full, abundant life that Jesus came to give. If you’ve settled for a ho-hum, so-so, Christian life, it is time to start enjoying the abundant life Jesus came to give. God wants you to experience His presence every day through moments of sudden glory where He makes His presence known. Ready to get started? 10. Veronika November 19, 2012 at 1:44 pm #

Good Morning All! My husband and I had been trying to have a baby for almost a year when I found out I was pregnant in April 2012. Unfortunately, I miscarried! Although it was very hard, I have learned through God’s word that He has something Great in store for us! I pray today for our little miracle! That we may not lean on our own understanding…Trust God…that He May Grant Us Our Little Miracle!

    • Vanesa K November 19, 2012 at 2:18 pm #

Veronika…I KNOW how it feels to lose a little person that you already had learned to love. I have had 3 miscarriages myself. But GOD is faithful to the end. He has blessed me with 3 sons and a daughter. =) I will be praying for you. If you need a word of encouragement feel free to email me or check out “My Journey through Seven Pregnancies” on my blog. It might help you to keep hope on the hard days.
As a Godl-filled mother you are a success. Your baby is awaiting your arrival in Heaven. Isn’t that our life goal for our children? =) It puts a wonderful spin on a grieving mother’s pain. Jesus is holding our babies in His lap. We couldn’t give them anything better!!

    • julie November 19, 2012 at 2:56 pm #

I am praying for you and your husband, Veronika. I’m sorry about your baby in heaven. I’ll pray for a a healthy full term baby for your family. You are already leaning on Him! I know God can perform miracles. My oldest child was born without a heartbeat an was in heaven for ten minutes. Today he’s a healthy nine year old with no long term effects! Keep trusting. You have a great attitude and will be a terrific mom!!

    • Kathy November 19, 2012 at 4:38 pm #

Veronika, my husband and I tried for 10 years to get pregnant, all the while, sisters and friends all around us were doing so. Although we felt joy for them, it made it even harder for us. But then God blessed us may times over, with the gift of ADOPTION. Our 1st daughter was born when I was 41, from a 14-year old birth mother who had selected us. Two years later, at 16, she gave us our 2nd beautiful, healthy daughter! God had a different plan for us and our girls and it was the BEST plan ever! (with no stretch marks! 🙂

I pray for you and your family Kathy. Regardless of how impossible it seems for us; He can do all things. We all are His creation-place your thoughts and confidence in Him, not in your family. Prayed for you Maritza! I have been there with my family and actually, I still am. May you feel God’s peace, comfort and love. I pray your family will experience God’s overwhelming forgiveness for themselves and that same forgiveness will overflow to each other. God bless you!

    • Vanesa K November 19, 2012 at 2:25 pm #

Reconciliation is something all of us know well. Peace is something we all long for. God’s love trumps it all…and forgiveness is step one. Love is impossible without forgiveness. I am praying for it to be simple and easy. God is not difficult to figure out. “Love your neighbor as yourself.” It doesn’t say tolerate it says love. We could fight with who our “neighbors” are…but family…there is no question. They are in your neighborhood for sure! =) Thanksgiving is a great time to encourage those whom you have been distant from! Be blessed and be a blessing!

    • Anonymous November 19, 2012 at 2:30 pm #

I will join you in prayer Maritza. The Lord only wants joy, peace and love – may it take hold of your family and loved ones, and may this difficult time become a testimony in His name.

I am desperate for some prayer warriors. I am 31 weeks pregnant with my first baby – we have been trying for many, many years and despite what the specialists said, fell pregnant naturally with our miracle baby. But on Wednesday my husband told me he is in love with my best friend and wants to leave me. He is staying until after the baby is born – and I am simply praying that will give God enough time to work in his heart and break the bonds that the devil has over his mind and heart. I have lost faith in my husband and my marriage, but i stand firm in my faith in God. Through Him all things are possible. Please ladies – I pray that my husband’s heart softens and that he opens his heart and and mind to working at our relationship. I believe in restoration. I believe in a refreshing. I believe in a re-birth. I also pray for strength and a discerning spirit during this difficult time.

    • Kate November 19, 2012 at 3:28 pm #

I am praying for you that God will open your husband’s heart to return to you.
God I ask for the return of his affection and the restoration of their relationship. During this holiday season and time of family and love, please restore and ressurrect relationships that have been damaged and broken. In Jesus Name I pray.

God is faithful to the end! Have you heard that song? If not…find it. Sing it. Believe it! He will be faithful no matter what. The strategy of God is unlike any other. He promises in Romans 8:28 to use everything for the good of those who love Him. Stand firm in that truth. His promises are not like the promises from mankind. They are eternal. They do not back down.
I believe that God is writing your testimony right now. As far as it goes on your end…live as Jesus would have you to. Be blameless. Be righteous. And trust that God has your back no matter what!
I believe in restoration with you. I believe in refreshing with you. I believe in re-birth with you. I believe in renewed passion for his first love. (That is your husband’s love for Christ first…then you. That is how you want it!)
Stay strong my friend. Speak life. Pray truth. Believe with all that you have that God is warring with you. That is the most powerful of fighting partners!! =)

      • Kate November 20, 2012 at 3:52 pm #

Thank you for these words Vanesa – I believe and I am praying and expecting God to answer.

I am praying for my husband. He has a new job and it helps us out very well finacially. I don’t know that he enjoys the job or is used to it yet. He knows that I’m thrilled about his new job and am proud of him. He’s stressed and blames me sometimes for this new job and the longer drive it entails. If I ask him anything, he snaps “I work for you!” It’s as though now I cannot rely on him for anything else. He hasn’t been doing devotions either. I want his faith to grow and his anger to diminish. I also pray for our lingering health issues to go away.

Pray for my relationship with my father in-law. I constantly feel like I have to work to make sure that I am on his good side. Unfortunately now, I feel like his is upset with me and I don’t know why. It is hard because we do not live close to one another, so I can only guess that he is upset because my mother in-law will call and talk to me, but he does not. (My husband is deployed, so calls are only for me.) Please pray that God will take hold of this situation and soften my father in-law’s heart. I’m tired of trying to work for his approval and love.

    • Trish P November 19, 2012 at 4:03 pm #

I will be praying for your relationship with your father-in-law. And thank you for your support for your husband. As a military wife myself I know the close ties of family are so necessary for our sanity while husbands are deployed. I pray right now that his heart be softened and your relationship renewed.

I have been praying for a long time for the reconcilliation/restoration of my relationship.
I am asking for improved communication and a return of affection. I have been waiting in Faith as the Lord has answered me many times, but sometimes it is so hard. I ask that you Ladies would pray in agreement with me that my relationship be restored. I love this man and this relationship is the desire of my heart (Psalms 37:4). God has restored us in the past and I am praying expectantly that he will do so again. Please hear my prayers God, In Jesus Name.

I need prayer b/c I dont believe He will do it for me. I have unbelief in my heart. I think He will do it for others but not for me b/c I feel I am bad. Not that He cant fix me but its a belief that I cant get rid of that I am just so bad that I cant be forgiven. I need prayer PLEASE for me to be able to see my grandsons. I have went back over my steps and I can not find what is so bad that behavior such as my dil is doing is warranted. I am being bullied. She is taking me from my grandsons and my grandsons from me. I KNOW its God’s will that we be togethre. God ordained family. My son tried to sneak me into their lives but I told him I could not do that. I told him I would not have wanted that t happen to me when he and his brother were young so I could not do that to her. ( I did go see them once. I had to see those beautiful faces again) I told him I could not do that with good conscience. I think he does not step in b/c he sees what she is capable of doing by taking the boys from me so what would not make him think she would do that with him? I have never been abusive in any way whatsoever. She is a bully. Last weekend she told me she would send me a pic of one of my grandsons and I asked if I could have a picture of the other one and she just shut down. I dont know what I did wrong? It was not from a tone of voice b/c we were texting. She does not talk she texts, so there wasnt anything I said or a tone in my vioce. All I said was this: can I have a pic ov Evan, too? I dont know why that was a problem but I have not heard from her since. Please pray that God will show me what to do or whatever wisdom I need. Thank You so very much. Desperate Grandmother, missing her grandbabies. :'(

Brenda….God just answered my prayer about a deep depression I was tumbling into….my mother is near death, my son-in-law is near death from cancer, my son and his wife are having marital difficulties, I had to leave them and come north to take care of my mom, my foster daughter is in another place and having difficulties and my source of income dried up. All the red tape in caring for my mom was getting me down but I read this yesterday on the Today God Is First blog I get in my email: It immediately got me praising GOD

“…Do not stay in the stronghold. Go into the land of Judah …” (1 Samuel 22:5).

David and his fighting men had been hiding in the cave of Adullam. He was fleeing Saul. Many of life’s down-and-out had come and joined David’s army. David was content to stay in the stronghold of safety. Then, God’s prophet came to David and told him that he must leave the stronghold and go into the land of Judah. Judah means “praise.”

When life beats down on us and we get to the place where we want to hide in a cave, God often places people around us who prod us into moving in the right direction. He does not want us to remain in the place of discouragement. He wants us to move into the land of praise.

I recall when I went through a very difficult time. It seemed to drag on and on with no change until finally I wanted to retreat to a cave and forget pressing on. It was a great time of discouragement. A godly man came to me and said, “You must keep moving! There are too many who are depending on you in the Kingdom.”

I have been praying a number of years now that God would heal my marriage. I pray that my husband would be crazy in love with God and want to serve God and have a relationship with him. I pray that our marriage would be a Christian marriage that serves God. Right now we are states apart because of a job. I pray that God would give us direction as to where he wants our family. I pray that God would open our hearts to change especially our 13 year old! I pray for miracles in our family and that God would bless us with answers. Please Lord forgive me not believing that you will answer my prayers and restore a new faith in me! Ladies, pray that God will work wonders and bring me a mentor/friend that will come beside me and help me!
    In Jesus Name Amen!

Hope, I pray for healing in your marriage, that the emotional and geographical distances can be bridged and result in a close relationship to God and each other for both of you. That our Heavenly Father will open both of your eyes to each other and to his almighty power and as a result, the perfect plan will come together for your future home/location. I also pray for all of you, especially your 13 year old to be open to change and wherever you end up that the community of believers will greet you with open arms and that your special friend/mentor will greet you with cupcakes. 🙂 I pray all of this in Jesus Holy Name.

Our heavenly father, I pray for guidance as my home is always open to anybody who needs us. I ask that you touch my husband as he is such a hard worker but is always taken for granted because he has one arm. Please let somebody see his potential and give him his opportunity to be his all. Please guide my very sweet but strong willed teenage daughter so her choices are always what’s best for her and also take away her jealous feelings because we are raising our niece. Let her see how important she is to each person who knows and loves her. Also please guide me as I step into another era. My non verbal, non communicating autistic son is now an adult. Please stay with him and guide my decisions and give us the means to care for him now as well as helping us choose who would be best to care for him once we’ve come home to you. Also be with my sister in law. Bring her back to you so she builds the solid foundation for living so she can get her daughter before too much time passes and she misses out on her youth. Last but not least be with all the grandparents as each are facing their own health issues. Please heal them and let them feel your presence. In Jesus name I ask for your blessings. Amen

I’ve been praying for 3 years for God to heal my abusive marriage and to heal my husband’s jealousy and drug addiction. I feel renewed and I claim VICTORY IN JESUS NAME right this minute. I pray for all of the women on here that are having marital issues. The devil (LITTLE d) is a liar and he CAN NOT have our marriges. Ladies, pray and DO NOT CEASE! Praise God for His Son that died for our sins that we might have Life and what?? Yes have it more abundantly. I’m in prayer for each of you.

    • michelle November 22, 2012 at 12:03 pm #

In the very recent past I was struggling with similar martial issues with my husband. My husband had major anger issues, a turn of a hat he would be flat in a rage over the simplest of matters. He would scream, at our son whom is still only 3 yrs. old, and come close to hitting me, and our son. Thank you lord, for answering that prayer, and taking away all of my husband anger issues. I trust that he will remain a strong and faithful servant and living example to our son, how men should serve you and the home. I pray that God will answer all of your prayers, and that your husband will be broke free of any bondage that the devil has laid in his path. No the devil cannot have our marriages! May your husband no longer rely on drugs to bring him peace, may he rely on GOD to bring him true peace. For God gave his so we will all could truly live, God I know you hear us all, I thank you that you never will ever get tired of us, and that you NEVER will give up on us, or our family.
Have a blessed thanksgiving ladies! 🙂

I just purchased a car last Fri. to replace the car that was totaled. My husband is beyond stressed! We had to file bankruptcy a couple of yrs ago and we are just getting back on our feet. He had a quad bypass 6 yrs ago and can not afford to raise his blood pressure like this! He is a very strong CHRISTIAN and has prayed and prayed but still says he isn’t sure we made the right choice and “what if you or I loose our jobs? What if I get a cut in pay? What if What if”. He is begging me to have the answeres but I don’t. He doesn’t like anything I say. I ask him to turn his fear over to God, “I have, but I still have a tight chest, can’t sleep.” Etc…. I have prayed myself for him and us, that we have made the right choice. I ask that God gives us the answer we so desperatley need. Especially for my husband, may he let go of his fear and anxeity , truly give it to God and be patient “be still” for his answer. Anything is possible if you BELIEVE!!!!!!!!!! Praise the Lord God Almighty!!

    Dear Sharon:
I attend Calvary Chapel of Melbourne, Fl. This year our pastor was inspired to remind us all of the power of prayer. We all wear black bracelets that say I Pray God Answers
Yes No Wait. It is a daily reminder to me to pray often and to anticipate an answer. I know He answers our prayer but too often we are impatient. We forget that He does things in His time not ours. I have seen job reuests answered, cancer cured, financial requests answered so how can I question the validity of a gift so graciously given. I offer this so that others may see the power of prayer is truly great.

    In Christ Jesus,
    Kate B.

I am currently going through a separation and divorce. And I am hurting. For years I have struggled to try and make my marriage work and try and make my husband love me but I can’t. My husband has abandoned me emotionally and physically and is now preparing to really leave and leave me a single mother of four children. I am scared and hurting. I feel very alone and like nobody understands. And I’m tired of hearing people tell me God can fix my marriage, it’s not that I doubt God’s power, but my husband has free will and he’s exercising it! God gave him that free will and this is how he’s choosing to use it. I pray that God will heal my broken heart and fill me with his peace, I pray for the strength I need to make it through each day, and for the faith that God will provided. I also pray for a mentor or friend to help me through this.

My prayer request is for my husband and an end to his self centered heart and for him to turn to The Lord. I also pray for my children as they are in the same boat as I. I had one of them attending our church but she has pulled away. I pray for their salvation. And I pray for an end to this financial mess my husband and I keep creating. I pray his stubborness will cease so we can move forward and make changes.
but as I pray for myself I pray for all those affected by the latest bout of storms.

I am praying for her to regain confidence is herself and recognize that whether she receives an A in this class or not she is still an amazing person. I know this means a lot to her and I know how much time she has put in to studying for this class. I would also pray that her hard work pays off and she is able to turn things around in this class. I know this may seem to be a small matter when so many are praying for jobs, health, etc., but to me this is a big thing because it concerns my daughter’s heart and confidence. Thank you for joining your prayers with mine that whatever path God has set out in her life she will overcome her trials and persevere to success (even if that means not getting an A).

Blessings everyone!..I pray with great faith & expectation that God will answer your/my prayers. Jer. 33:3, “Call to me & I will answer you & show you great & mighty things, which you do not know”. I pray for a God blessed job, financial provision & the desire of my heart for a God blessed husband & comlpete restoration of my life! Ps. 91:14,. “Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him. 15: he shall call upon me & I will answer him, I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him & honor him”….why should we doubt? Sometimes it’s hard being human!! When I feel the enemy coming to steal, kill & destroy, I have to be steadfast & resist him, 1 Peter 5: 8-9. I pray for strength & wisdom to get me thru each day (!) & experience the peace, love, joy & abundance that God so wants us; His children, to have. Thank you Heavenly Father, for your love, in Jesus name, Amen!

I’ve been praying for the last 2 1/2 years for my son’s father’s salvation and our family’s reconciliation. I’ve expected this to happen this whole time but it’s not been answered, I believe the Lord spoke to me and said this will happen in his time. However, recently, I’ve been struggling with my faith due to the prayers not being answered and especially it looks like it will never be answered.

How do you pray, expectantly without being hurt or disappointed when it doesn’t seem like the prayer will be answered?

There are so many things I’m asking for and not fully expecting God to answer. Here are a couple of them:

    1) I recently lost my job. Money’s running out, and rent is coming due, Christmas and birthdays are coming up for my two wonderful little girls (plus my mother and grandmother), and I just want to have enough money to cover all that. Not to mention that I would love to be able to provide gifts for other children/families in need and give to missions.

I’m praying for a major financial miracle. And I know God will provide, but I’m just not convinced He’ll do it in a “big” way. But, then, I’m not all that sure that I need Him to provide in a big way. I’m thrilled when He provides in “small” ways, like the $5 bill I found this morning! 🙂

    2) I’m looking for a definite “yes” or “no” answer to a question about how God wants me and my husband to serve in our church. I feel a pull in one certain direction, and my husband does, too. But there are things that need to be dealt with and obstacles that need to be removed.

So far we’re getting a lot of “maybes,” and I want something more sure than that. I also know that I am in need of the patience to wait for this specific answer I’m looking for. And I know that we will need to show obedience to His will, no matter what the answer is. Thanks for your prayers!

    • Kate November 20, 2012 at 4:23 pm #

Lord, I pray that you will reply for M.A. and allow her not only enough to bless her family but grant her selfless request to want to bless others as well. IJN

I am praying for promotion and financial increase. I have been at my job for almost 12 years. I have a new boss that I helped to train four years ago when he started with the company. He is now undervaluing the staff and this is causing me stress and physical ailments. I am believing God to provide a new positiion for me and means to go to grad school to pursue a master”s degree in counseling. I have an inate desire to help God’s people and I need his help in making the transition to make that possible. Also, my husband and I need this new position and opportunity for me because we have a blended family with four children and we need a bigger home.

Your child is asking for promotion, guidance and financial provision.God grant her in accordance to your word in Matthew 7:7 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you”. She is asking, God provide for her , and bless her and her family. Provide for them all they need in accordance to your will in Jesus name for the glory and honor of your name.

I am almost 40 years old and do not have a biological child. I was told through prophecy on numerous occasions that I would have my own. This hard, i feel my time is running out and so is my faith. Am I not to be biological mother? If not Lord, give me the peace that pass all human understanding or I’m to be the peace and calm assurance to wait on you.

My husband of 32 years, who has always loved and adored me and has been a man of God, divorced me this summer for no reason. He said in court he was divorcing me because I yelled I love you across the foyer at church. My three children will not communicate with me at all. I’m not even sure where they are. It is so bizarre. It is not a flesh and blood struggle, but is spiritual. I am devastated. This would never happen to our loving family. I know God has restored. please pray He restores before Thanksgiving. I can’t bear to go through the holidays without my family.

  101. Ashley November 20, 2012 at 12:12 am #

I am praying for my health. For the last two and a half years I have been in constant pain, mostly in concern to my stomach. I have a number of allergies and went for help from a specialist back in April 2010, hoping they could help me identify and lessen the severity as they advertised. I was suggested to go there by my (now ex) boyfriend (who was a nonchristian and verbally and sexually abusive). The supplements they gave me ended up hurting my stomach horribly, to the point of near blacking out at work and having to leave my job because I couldn’t stand during my shift due to my abdominal pain. I am extremely thankful, though, because the time I spent at home with my family (whom I live with) pointed me back to Christ. I had totally revoked and denied being a Christian just to “fit in” and “please” my ex (he sincerely hates Christians and would say they were stupid to believe in something like the Bible). The Lord saved me by whispering his love into my heart and claiming me for himself once again. I have had ups and downs, and at one point was even feeling better, but just to make sure, I went in to see another doctor who was supposed to be able to help specifically with allergies etc. Instead of finding relief, the supplements and prescriptions I received me made me have the most sever allergic reaction in my life. And instead of being able to have help and relief, I spent the next two months recovering from open hives across my arms and eyes so swollen they were almost shut. Along the way, the Lord has shown me some things that were affecting my health, but I am still left here over two years later, unable to be healthy enough to go outside, get a job, or finally be able to pursue a relationship with a man who genuinely will love Christ more than anything! I have not been able to leave my house for any length of time since February 2012. I am praying for health (and for a new life). It is especially hard because I am turning 25, and sometimes it is easy to look at where my friends are at (jobs, husbands, children, activities) at our age, and feel like my life is slipping by. I used to think that dating a nonchristian was “fine” and that I never wanted children cause they would just get in the way of my life – and now God has opened up a sincere desire for both (that at this time is so hard to bear because I can’t act on it!). On top of this I am very lonely. The only friends I had were also friends with my ex and were also anti-christian/nonsupportive. In order to follow the Lord, I had to make the decision to leave; and other friends of have kind of drifted away (I think it is hard for people to be active friends with someone who can’t be active). So I literally have no friends right now (though I have a great!!!! family who loves me). I love the Lord so much, but like the devotion today has pointed out – it is so easy to pray after this length of time and believe there isn’t an answer to my request!

Father in the name of Jesus, I am touching and agreeing with Sharon in prayer. Lord you are good, and will always give us the desires of our hearts and provide us with everything we need. God I know how it feels to have a loved one incarcerated, and how much of a struggle it can be at times, but I do believe that at the end of every struggle you are waiting to pour out a greater blessing. Give her the strength she needs to press on in order to remain faithful and obedient to your word. In your son’s precious name I pray, amen.

Lord I know you have heard Sharon’s heart and her prayers to You about finding that full time job, helping her to take care of her two children, shaping her into the woman You desire her to be, allowing her fiance to be released from prison, and come home. That You dear Lord would be the center of their marriage and their home. Father you say that the confidence we have in You is that if we ask anything according to Your will, You hear us; and if You hear us, then whatsoever we ask You, You will give us the petitions we desire of You. I stand with my sister in faith and thank You Father, in Jesus’ Name, amen.

Also, for restoration of my family…

    • Ashley November 20, 2012 at 7:07 am #

Shirley, I am praying for request. And what a wonderful, but also aching, request it is! My heart prays the same request many times, so I am praying that God continues to develop you on the path he has set, to show you his perfect timing, and to introduce (at the right time!) to you the man whom he made to love you as a reflection of Christ’s love (but a man who love’s God and Christ more than you! cause that will always insure TRUE, joyful love springing from his heart over a lifetime, as well as a true partner in Christ’s love). I pray that the Lord keeps you strong during this time, and calms and reassures your heart in the process! And may the Lord watch over your path and keep your eyes fixed on him and his joy and encourage you as you walk with him; and that this love will seep out into all parts of your life! I pray that your family be permeated by the love of Christ and find connection with each other through this love and create true restoration. Lord you know my requests for Shirley and that my heart goes out to her. Please, in your perfect planning, direct her life and desires and understanding in you – In Jesus name – Amen!

I have been praying on a promise I believe I received for a particular person as a future husband. It’s been 5 months now….nothing has happened. He and I are friends…it’s obvious we’re attracted to one another and he is running after God as fast as I am. What’s the hold up? I don’t know. I am trusting and waiting…knowing God’s timing is always perfect, but it is hard. Some days I doubt, then i have to go through my journal and re-read my entry on the day I received the promise. I am praying that God make us ready for one another…I’m guessing that’s the hold up. I can’t wait to be his wife, but…gotta be his girlfriend first!! We are both so dedicated to ministries that together, oh how much we could we accomplish? I know Satan does not want us together — a man and a woman that are both chasing after God and serving others would only encourage and strengthen one another to stay the path and endure. Please pray against the enemy — that he not come between this relationship between this guy and me and that I would wait well. That he and I would continue to make God number one in our lives and that we would be ready for each other soon. Thank you.

I am praying for each of you.

I have been reading people’s posts and it’s humbling to say that I am having trouble believing that God will answer my prayers. I know in my brain He loves me and He does answer prayer, just not the way we want it to go sometimes. I think that’s where I’m stuck. I have prayed for things and He answers ‘no’ to those things. I prayed to get pregnant and he said no. I prayed to be cured from MS, and so far he has said no. I know I need to let go of these past struggles and commit my life to him come what may. Because, in reality, he has blessed me so much with a wonderful husband, 2 adopted kids, a wonderful church family and friends, and much more than I could list here. I need prayer to accept the life God has given me to lead. It was not the life I would have chosen for myself.

There are so many things I have been laying before the Lord, but these are the most pressing. One is regarding my husband; that he comes to know Christ as Lord and Savior, and be the spiritual leader of our family. I also pray that God will guide him in his new job and grant him great success. The second aspect is that as I await course results God has already made me victorious. Also that He will grant me clarity as to what my next professional move should be.

MRM, I am praying for you. Just know that God’s timing is PERFECT.

    Blessings in abundance to everyone.

My prayer is that God will keep one of my friends from making a terrible mistake if it be his will, which I hope it is. And I will pray for the women above me and the man she believes she is meant to be with 🙂

I am in dental hygiene school and am not doing good in 2 of my 8 classes. Aa soon as I realized the studying methods I was using weren’t working I sought out our school tutor and have begun studying more than ever before. Literally my thoughts are on radiology lecture and another class. The professor is the same for the two classes I’m not passing. Her tests are beyond difficult with lots of critical thinking questions and many that are backwards to make you think. I’m an analytical thinker which makes the tests harder. I can’t change my way of thinking. Not sure how. So I changed my studying habits instead. This teacher also intimidates me. I practically cry each day thinking and worrying that although I am studying and reading that I won’t retain the info and fail. I have been praying for God’s help and the motivation to stick with with, but I am afraid I won’t pass. If I don’t pass at least 1 of my 8 classes, I will be dropped from the program and I’ll have to reapply for next fall. If this happens, so much more stress will be added to my life. Although the program is stressful, this is what I want more than anything right now. To finish school and be a dental hygienist. I have anxiety, I don’t drink coffee because it makes my heart race. There are so many other things that could make me stressed out as well but they are secondary and when I have time, I’ll deal with them, bills, hospital bill from a stoke I had on Halloween. (God is good and I don’t have any major side effects, just a couple small minor ones).

I would like prayer that god would calm me, provide wisdom to understand the questions I have on my next two tests (1 for each of the two classes I’m failing) and the final(s) for both. That the study sessions with the tutor will go well, that what I read from the chapters, review pages from the instructor, and the fill in the blank notes I have from class will make sense, that my brain will be receptive to the information provide. That my thoughts will be clear of anything that isn’t related to my studies and that I would have strength, and faith and trust that God is in control. And to wait on him expectantly that he will provide for me.

Thank you for your prayers and I too am praying as I read yours. And all those I haven’t read, you all are in my prayers anyways. Like Paul who said I am praying for all those who are in the faith. How comforting to know. God is a good God and even when our faith is small, he is still there, he knows us and he listens.

There are some other things I am struggling with and for those who are also struggling, Jesus has been reminding me that he healed many woman in the bible who were in bondage. If he can heal them and he did, he can heal me and he can heal you too.

Hi Elisha: I bet you don’t know this, but I have a degree in Dental Hygiene. So I wanted to encourage you to hang in there! I’m praying for you right now…Lord, I pray for Elisha. I pray she will not be anxious, which feeds and multiplies on anxious. I pray You will remove the veil that keeps her from understanding this teacher, and make it click and stick in her mind. I pray You will give her supernatural understanding and wisdom as she takes this test. Give her the mind of Chirst and the peace of the Holy Spirit. Help her to breathe out fear and anxiety and breathe in peace and confidence. I pray she will succeed and use dental hygiene as a platform to minister to people for years to come. In Jesus’ Name, amen.

Last week Tuesday I saw a old dear friend of mine sitting a our local police station. Well when I was down and out she use to pray for me and always welcomed me into her home and she ministered the word of GOD into my spirit. I then approached her and she told me that she don’t have any place to go to and that the police picked her up the night before to find a place for her. I told her to come home with me and my husband and I agreed that she can stay with us until we find a suitable place for her to stay. My prayer request is for GOD to move mountains on her behalf and for restoration. Because of all the disappointments she had to face she suffer a lot of hurt even though she don’t talk about it but you can see it in her eyes. Her name is Shireen. Holy Spirit please guide us in the right direction to pray for her.

My 38 year old brother, Brian, his 32 year old wife, Ambe, and my 15-year old niece, Savanna were all killed in a tragic car accident this summer. This will be my first holiday season without them. I am trusting God that He will see me through this difficult season in my life. The grief is great and sometimes difficult to carry. My sister, Amy, and her family are flying in from Texas on Thanksgiving Day. We only have each other now. I am so thankful that I have a God who will see me through something like this. I would appreciate any prayers lifted up for my family & me (and my sister & her family) during the next month. We know it will be a difficult time.

I would like to request that you pray with me for some trials we are facing right now. Finances are a big one—my husband is working a few jobs and I am staying home because we feel like that is what God has called us to do, but it is so hard financially right now and we’re struggling and wondering if this is what we should be doing. We are also dealing with a lot of family issues and trying to pray that God will give us wisdom and take the pressure away. We are praying for God to open the door for my husband to get a new job also.

I lift my relationship up to you again today Lord in expectation that you will answer. You answered my prayer and restored us before when everyone around me (including myself sometimes) felt there was no hope. I read about your promises and the miracles you have done in the Word and I am asking that you do the same for me and all posting here. I believe there is nothing impossible for you and I have seen you do amazing miracles for me and for others.

I keep hearing/seeing/reading the story in Genesis about Joseph being reunited with his brothers and the line “What you meant for harm, God meant for good.” Lord, I am praying to you for reconcilliation and restoration. I have read that you will restore what the locusts took and I am waiting for this promise to come to pass.

Please God, let our communication be renewed today. Everytime I ask if I should send the letter I wrote, I see/sense/hear that I should wait on the Lord. I am waiting Lord and I believe you can restore us again. I keep remembering the blessings you have poured out on the past and I am so hopeful, but I am also so sad. I miss him. I don’t want to punish or to humiliate. I forgive him. Please restore us Lord. This is the desire and secret petition of my heart. (Psalms 37:4)

    2 Corinthians 9:8-9

    Amplified Bible (AMP)

8 And God is able to make all grace (every favor and [a]earthly blessing) come to you in abundance, so that you may always and under all circumstances and whatever the need [b]be self-sufficient [possessing enough to require no aid or support and furnished in abundance for every good work and charitable donation].

9 As it is written, He [the benevolent person] scatters abroad; He gives to the poor; His deeds of justice and goodness and kindness and benevolence will go on and endure forever!

Please Lord, I know that you can do abundantly above even my wildest dreams, I am asking for this restoration today. I pray and declare Ephesians 3:20 blessings over this relationship. In Matt. 18:19, Jesus said, “If any two of you agree touching any matter on this earth, it shall be done.” I am praying in agreement with all here for healing and ask that you bless all of their lives and families. I am asking for prayer sisters to pray in agreement with me that God will work another miracle. Praise God for all he does for us and for answering the prayers we ask here in Jesus’ name. Amen

Wow Sharon Jaynes! This response has got to be humbling and exciting. To know that God used YOU to inspire all of these women into the expectation of their prayers…that has got to just make you smile from ear to ear!

I am feeling inspired too. I wrote this post this morning…a morning that was full of tears b/c of the circumstances I am staring at. I was loosing focus…and b/c of your faithful writing…I turned my tears of fear into faith. Thank you for listening to the Spirit of God. You will be blessed for being a blessing!!

Hope you can find a moment to read what God used you to inspire! =) Click below or copy and paste and be encouraged…God is using your ministry in a powerful way…all over the globe!!

Girlfriend, I am blown away. I am soooooooooooo proud of all these women praying for each other. What a beautiful picture of the body of Christ. It has been a momont of sudden glory!!!

      • Vanesa K November 20, 2012 at 6:47 pm #

=) God gave me the lyrics to a song this past year that calls us to rise up as men, as women, and as a church body. In the chorus of the song it says
        They are ready.
        They’ve been waiting.
They are hungry and thirsty for more of Me now.
Won’t you please show them My love?
Then they’ll know My grace and forgiveness.
Because you’re all the Christ that they see.
Go be my hands and feet.

How fitting, don’t you think? This is women reaching out to other women and being the hands and feet of Christ. Becoming prayer warriors with one another for no personal benefit…just pure love. Love for someone you will never meet. That is a characteristic of our Father coming out. Love it!!!

If you put your faith and hope and expectation in Christ…He will not fail you. I would love to be an encouragement to you in this walk of faith. I have written about my struggles with pregnancies on my blog for such a time as this. I, myself, have had 3 miscarriages. Three children that sit at the foot of the King. And I also have four children that are alive and well here on earth with me. Just know…that no matter what, you are a mother. A Godly, successful mother. Our main purpose is to get our children to the Throne of Grace. You have succeeded…three times. And although it hurts to not have them here…God will reveal his plan to you. Romans 8:28 can NOT be a lie. Believe that someday you will understand what He sees. Trust His heart.

Please, at your own pace read through my posts about how God brought me through each of my seven pregnancies. I pray that it will encourage you in your walk of faith. If you’d like…start here

And remember Jeanette. When your resources are exhausted…that is when God can show up and show off. No explanations possible….only the favor of God! Praying with you my sister in Christ!!

Lord I need to feel your comfort for my grand daughter Gracie being in a foster home this very week, help us Lord the whole family to help her, Thank You Lord that she is able to be here with us for Thanksgiving tomorrow, I just want her to remember what we as her grand parents have tried to instill in her little mind about You, she knows You Lord, she Knows You love her so much that You sent Your only Son to die for her sins as well as ours, Father help us to feel the Comfort that only comes from you through Your Holy Spirit We love you Lord and Thank you Knowing how much You Love Children. Give me an extra measure of Faith during this process of us getting her back into our home where she knows she is loved and safe. Father this is the worst thing I think I have ever gone through the just not knowing how she is, who she is with and all that goes when one of your grand kids is taken away from their parents who are using drugs. Lord I need patience and my mouth bound in Love towards my daughter for her part in this happening, Father I am trusting You for these requests today. In Jesus Most Precious Name I pray to You, Amen and Amen

I continue to stand with each of you in prayer. For your marriages, for privision, for your children for various types of chains to be broken. I believe in the powerful name of Jesus that can break every chain, and I pray in that power right now for each and every one of you.

Stand strong. Continue to pray with power my sisters. “Pray at all times and on every occasion in the power of the Holy Spirit. Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all christians everywhere.” Ephesians 6:18

  148. Erin November 22, 2012 at 2:14 pm #

I am praying a multi-faceted prayer. There are spirit(s) that have afflicted my daughter since she was a little girl. She cannot sleep because of “disruptions” in her room. (I was raised Methodist and this is NOT something we are taught in church!) I pray that they will be removed from her so that she can have a peace, go about her life and allow God to fulfill His plans in her. She is a gorgeous 19 year old with the morals of a saint! I know the Lord has great things in store for her.
Last week we went to battle for a friend who is trying to win her son back from drug addiction. I know Satan sent out his team to try to thwart our efforts. Since then, my daughter has had 5 nights of torment, and my husband is not in agreement with what I believe is going on, which is causing us to argue constantly. I’m sure this puts an evil grin on the devil’s face for causing more strife is exactly what he wants!
Please allow our prayers to be answered and for our family to be protected from this evil.

    • Vanesa K November 29, 2012 at 4:58 pm #

Pray for her dreams Erin. Pray that God would be all through them. And then make a point to ask her daily. Don’t let the miracle pass you by because you aren’t noticing. Let me try to explain what I mean. I wrote a post on my blog about a dream that God gave my son. (He is only 7!) I would be delighted if you would read it and gain strength.

God WILL triumph. God WILL be the victor. Keep praying. Keep believing. Trust that this is all part of a powerful testimony of God’s faithfulness to your daughter. That HE never left her…and He will release many others because of the words that she speaks. Trust the strategy of God b/c it is unlike any other!!

I have been praying for 10 years for my daughter who is BiPolar and suffers from depression. Did commit her life to the Lord but fell away. She needs the Lord and continues to make bad choices and does not practice good self-care. I confess I am weary and my faith is weak to think she will change. Forgive me Lord and please intervene before it is too late. In Jesus name. Amen

I have ask the Lord to show me if I need to ask her for forgiveness. I thank the Lord in advance for hearing and answering my prayer with a wonderful job. Thank You Jesus

Nothing is too hard for God!

Believing God to save, deliver and set my son free to live the life He has ordained for him before he was formed in my womb.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”

Sometimes GOD ALMIGHTY answers me and it takes me by total surprise! Which should not be because we must: Mark 11:24 ” ‘Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.’ ” …
I’m telling ya God is so amazing and always right on time; never early but never ever late!
I’ve been praying for peace and patience and how the Lord would like me to handle my future sister-in-law visiting and the devotion titled ‘Plan for Peace’ by the girlfriends in GOD author, Mary Southerland, spoke right to the issue! The particular devotion that I get every day on my email spoke exactly to it. How amazing lol one day I was at my grandma Shirley’s and after spending the night I was reading my morning devotions before we headed out for her hair appointment and our usual lunch at the Cheesecake Factory and out of 365 days of the year what the writer included was how she loved the Cheesecake Factory and a story that had a message from that example!-” Here on earth, hunger and thirst never end. Just because you ate breakfast this morning doesn’t mean you won’t have a grumbly tummy at lunchtime. And when you eat lunch, that doesn’t cover you for the next three days. You need to eat again and again.

The spiritual parallels here are as rich as a piece of Ghirardelli cheesecake from the Cheesecake Factory. (Great restaurant, by the way!) A three-course meal of worship, prayer, and a sermon on Sunday morning doesn’t nourish your body with the spiritual calories you need for an entire week. Not by a long stretch. We were designed in the image of God, for God. We were made to worship. To respond to the glory of God. To know Him. Continually. Daily. Without ceasing.”-
I just thought it was so awesome! 🙂 have a great day!

This week the yellow leaves at my college campus filled the isles and walkways and looked as beautiful as a blanket of freshly fallen snow! What a glorious moment of Sudden Glory that i would have missed if I had not prayed and expected GOD Almighty to deliver!!!
